OGUN STATE IS DETERMINED TO SUSTAIN LEADERSHIP IN INDUSTRIALISATION – DAPO ABIODUN

The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has assured that Ogun State is determined to sustain leadership as the largest industrial hub in Nigeria.

Prince Abiodun gave the assurance while delivering his speech during the 10th Edition of the Gateway International Trade Fair, at M.K.O. Abiola Trade Fair Complex, Kobape Road, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, on Tuesday, 6th of April, 2021.

Governor Abiodun also stated that the Gateway International Trade Fair had been an avenue for adding value to the State’s industrial products with the latest technologies and services. 

He further said that Ogun State was the largest industrial Hub in Nigeria and the government of the day is determined to hold to the position.

Speaking on Agriculture, Prince Abiodun said that it was the cornerstone of the State’s economy, thus, his cabinet is highly committed to its growth and promotion.

“We would enhance corporate relationships among states and local markets. We are also committed in the Investment promotion of Ogun State as the commercial hub.” He added.

The Ogun State Governor also assured that his team was set to make Ogun State, an investors’ first choice in all the various economic sectors.

He further disclosed that Ogun State was partnering with the CBN and other development agencies in order to improve agricultural growth, support Ogun State Medium and Small Enterprises and to soon launch an innovation fund for them.

Also, the Launching of Ogun State Digital ICT facilitates would commence very soon according to the Governor.

“Ogun State will provide facilities for free WiFi in all areas.” He said.

“We would also ensure mutual collaboration between town and gown in order to fast track greater development in our dear State.” He added.

Prince Dapo Abiodun further disclosed that the flagging off the Atan-Agbara road would take place in the next two weeks, adding that 

his Cabinet had been paying lot of attention to rural roads to improve agricultural activities in the State. 

The Governor also said that the Construction of facilities to enhance security so that investment would thrive, had been put in place, such as the recently incorporated Amotekun and other security architecture.

Governor Abiodun assured that provision of adequate accommodation facilities in the Tarde Fair Complex would also be attended to, as he wished all stakeholders the best Trade Fair exercise.

Speaking also, Alhaji Wasiu Babatunde Olaleye, the President of OGUNCCIMA, appreciated Governor Abiodun for donating a 500KVA Transformer and fixing the fence protecting the Trade Fair Complex, which was affected by the railway construction in the area.

The OGUNCCIMA President also said that the body had maintained good relationships with business organisations to enhance industrial commerce in Ogun.

Alhaji Olaleye added that the economic activities of the body was aimed at Improvement of vocational education quality, contributing to the eradication of poverty in the State.

He further urged the government to continue to assist in the development of the economic activities in the State.

In her address, the Ogun State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Mrs Kikelomo Longe, noted that the theme of the event, “Transforming Agriculture and Commerce in a Highly Competitive Global Market,” was chosen in line with the priority sectors of the current administration.

She also disclosed that it was the first Trade Fair since 2018 and commended the Ogun State Governor for supporting the programme.

The Ogun State Commisoner for Agriculture, Dr Adeola Odedina, in his speech, disclosed that programs had been put in place to attract international investors. 

He also said that Ogun State is endowned with so many raw materials and close to Lagos State, which is another vital commercial State in Nigeria.

The President of O’ODUACCIMA, Prince Kayode Adeyemi, while delivering his speech, appreciated the government and other supporting agencies for their commitments, adding that his coming to Ogun State for the 2021 Trade Fair has even granted him a huge business deal, which was a proof that Ogun State is endowed with networking benefits.

The Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, represented by the Aare Baaroyin, Chief Layi Labode, and the Bada AsojuOba, Chief Oluwole Odekunle, appreciated the Ogun State Government and the OGUNCCIMA for their efforts to fast track the development of the State’s economic and commerce sector. 

The Aare Baaroyin delivering the goodwill message of Alake, said that the Egba Paramount Monarch is happy that the Gateway International Trade Fair for which Abeokuta was well known for, was back, and therefore commended the efforts as well as the results of the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun towards the overall success of the Programme. 

He further disclosed that the Alake wishes that the event be held bi-ennially in order to improve the consistency and commitment of the stakeholders. 

Alake further prayed that Ogun Sate will continue to be the Mecca of industrial and commercial activities in Nigeria.

Government officials present at the event included the Deputy Governor of Ogun State; Engr (Mrs) Noimot Salako-Oyedele, Ogun State Head of Service; Mrs Selimott Ottun, Ogun Commissioner for Culture and Tourism; Hon. Toyin Taiwo, Ogun Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs; Hon. Afolabi Afuape, to mention a few.

Other Dignitaries present at the occasion included, Iyalode Alaba Lawson, General Manager OGBC; Mrs Toyin Sogbesan, Barr. Femi Okedara, Chief Enilolobo, and many others.
