The Ogun State Government has urged birth attendants operating in the state to utilize the windows of opportunity provided by the government to enhance their practice.
Chairman of the State Alternate Medicine Board, Balogun Nurudeen Olaleye made the call at a day training workshop held in Ifo for Birth Attendants in the Local Government Area.
A similar workshop had earlier been held in Abeokuta, Oke-Odan to capture all the three Senatorial Districts of the State.
Balogun Olaleye, while speaking at the event said the government was working to ensure hitch-free childbirth, saying, “We have been doing everything possible to create awareness to ensure that every practitioner in the state is captured in the ongoing registration and re-orientation/training on the modern practice of Alternate Medicine, with special focus on activities of Birth Attendants, for safe motherhood “.
He stated that the database of Alternate Medicine practitioners would be given utmost priority to detect quacks, as well as sanitize the sub-sector and enjoined members to tidy up their registration process.
Appreciating the State government on behalf of other participants, Mrs Mopelola Babatunde and Tajudeen Olaiya affirmed that the training had broadened their knowledge for better service delivery and pledged their cooperation with the Board.
