Ogun State Government has put an arrangement in place to complete the reconstruction of the 1.2-kilometer Ilishan market road project, in Ikenne Local Government Area of the State in six months.
The road, which has been in a deplorable state for a long time, poses serious challenges to motorists and residents of the area is now set for reconstruction, as contractors would move to the site soon.
State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya made this revelation in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, while briefing journalists on the intention of the Governor Dapo Abiodun, to rehabilitate the linking roads and many others across the three Senatorial Districts of the State.
Akinsanya said the Ilishan market road was one of the 12 roads that was approved by the State Executive Council at its statutory meeting, saying, the road was given priority base on its proximity to the proposed Gateway Airport and Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone (SAPZ).
The Commissioner noted that the present administration would continue to intensify efforts, at making the State more inviting to investors, through a good road network across the three Senatorial Districts of the State.
He said the project would create direct and indirect employment for the residents of the area, improve security, quality of life, better environment, make easy accessibility to schools, medical facilities, and other essential social services as well as boost the State Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
The Commissioner advised motorists plying the route to take caution, while the project lasts.
