The creation of Ogun State Waste Management Authority (OGWAMA) was aimed at improving waste management through provision of efficient waste disposal system to tackle environmental issues across the State.

The Special Adviser on Environment, Mr. Ola Oresanya who made this known during a chat with newsmen in Abeokuta, added that another step in this regard was the recently introduced “Clean up Initiative”, a house to house collection of refuse, aimed at preventing households from dumping their waste indiscriminately, stressing the importance of maintaining a healthy environment.

While saying that the Present administration was determined to ensure that Ogun State remained one of the cleanest States in the country, Mr. Oresanya noted that OGWAMA was a private sector driven arrangement to improve waste collection efforts and facilitate environmental sustainability.
