The Islamic Fidau Prayers for the repose of the late Olori Parakoyi Egbaland, High Chief Afeez Kashimawo Laloko, took place today, at the Centenary Hall, Ake, Abeokuta.
The joint special prayers were conducted by Muslim Communities from Igbore, Igbehin and a young Muslim Organisation.
The Balogun Egba, High Chief Sikirillah Atobatele, led some Egba High Chiefs to honour the departed Apex Egba Market System. The Iyaloja of Egbaland, Kemi Oloyede, the apparent Chief host, led tens of market men and women, to the occasion.
Speaking to Newsflagship newspaper, a one time Ogun State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Chief Bukonla Olopade, described Chief Kashimawo Laloko, as a National and International Sports Patriot who also got to the pinnacle of Commerce in Egbaland, and had thereby paid his dues to sporting, commerce and humanity.
A member of NFF, Chief Majekodunmi also said that whatever anybody might say about the late Football Coach, Laloko had placed Egba corporate logo on local and world map and had the opportunity to direct affairs at the commerce section of Egbaland.
The Lisa Aje of Egbaland, Chief Oladipupo Adebutu, said that the legacy left by late Kashimawo Laloko, in commerce and sporting, should always be remembered and improved upon.
Representatives from many areas of endeavours, connected with the late iconic football coach and head of Egba Commerce, paid him tributes.
They included Abeokuta Grammar School Old Students Association-AGSOBA, The Nigerian Football Federation-NFF, the Parakoyi- Market men and women.
Other Egba High Chiefs present included, Aare Ganiyu Babayeju, Bantun Kehinde Sofenwa and the Aare Baaroyin and Aare Egba Muslims, Layi Labode.
