Olota, Olofin, Attend The Installation Of Chief Shoyoye As Akogun of Egba


Two prominent Awori Monarchs, the Olota of Ota, Oba (Prof) AbdulKadir Lanlege, and Olofin of Isheri, Oba Adekunle Sulaimon attended the installation of Akogun and Lisa Egba

Their presence at the installation of Akogun and Lisa and his wife, Latifat Olaogun, was described as a welcomed development for unity and cohesion among the Monarchs of Egba Traditional Council as well as their people.

Speaking at the occasion, the Olota of Ota, Oba AbdulKadir Lanlege, noted that the occasion showed that the relationships among all sub-ethnic groups in Egbaland and the Ogun Central Senatorial District, should cooperate with one another to collectively promote the total well being of their people.

Oba Lanlege called for the sustainable unity, peace and harmony between the Egbas and Aworis.

He further prayed for greater unity and development of Egbaland.

The Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, President of the Egba Traditional Council, Osile OkeOna, Oba Adedapo Tejusoso, and Agura of Gbagura, Oba Saburee Babajide Bakre, were also present at the installation of the new Akogun and Lisa Egba.

Another Prominent member of the Egba Traditional Council of Awori Stock was the Olofin Isheri, who also came to grace the installation of two Statutory Egba Chieftaincy Titles, Akog allocated to OkeOna Egba section of Egbaland and bestowed on Chiefs Bayo Soyooye as the Akogun and Oluyomi Ayinla Olaogun as Lisa.

The relationships between the Egbas and Aworis date back almost 200 years, during which they have mixed up through intermarriage, farming and businesses.

This is perhaps the first time in recent times that an Awori Principal would attend a formal function of this kind.

Other Egba Obas at the ceremony were the Agura of Gbagura, Oba Suburee Babajide Bakre, and Olu Odeda.

Egba Chiefs at the occasion included Balogun Sikirullah Atobatele, Osi Bode Mustapha, Seriki Tosin Fadare, Baagbimo Akanni Akinwale, Asiwaju Maxwell Ayinla, Aare Ganiu Babayeju, Aare Baaroyin Layi Labode, Baamowe Ajayi Adelekan, Bantun Kehinde Sofenwa, to mention a few.

Egba Women Chief present at the occasion included Iyalode Alaba Lawson, Iyaloja Kemi Oloyede, GbagbaAje Tejumade Bakre, Seriki Iyaloja Modupe Labode, Seriki Iyalate, Veronica Atobatele, and others
