OSOGBO – The Commissioner for Information and Strategy in Osun State, Mr. Adelani Baderinwa has called on members of the fourth estate of the realm covering the Osun election to be balanced and objective in discharging their duty.
Mr. Baderinwa gave the charge on Tuesday in Osogbo while addressing online journalists in his office.
Mr. Baderinwa said, if journalists could report accurately without bias and emotional sentiment in their report, it would avoid unnecessary tension in the state.
The Ikirun-born media expert therefore cautioned, online media practitioners to always double check fact, before publishing their stories.
He said, as watchdog of the society, it behooves on journalists to always investigate issues for credibility.
“Let me welcome you all to State of Osun, the homestead of Omoluabis. As you can all observe, there’s peaceful atmosphere everywhere and that can only be possible because the present government under Governor Rauf Aregbesola has created a level playing ground for all candidates regardless of their party.
“As press men, I want to urge you to maintain the tempo by reporting accurately, objectively without bias or sentiment.
“I know we are all political animals, but we should not allow our personal emotion and sentiment to override our professionalism, because we owe a duty as watchdog of the society to investigate issues before we publish them online”.
