The Customs Area Controller of Ogun 1 Area Command based in Idiroko, Compt. Bamidele Abiodun Makinde disclosed that they were here (in Ogun) to carry out three key primary assignment which were, to Facilitate international trade, reduce Smuggling and Generate Revenue as well as Secure the border Posts.
Speaking with Newsflagship Correspondent, Mr Makinde observed that Ogun State had one of the the longest borders, starting from Imeko to Idiroko, going up North of the country.
The Comptroller added that they were here in Ogun State to secure the borders.

He told the Newsflagship Online Newspaper that, Nigeria Customs Service was at the Epic Centre of Nigeria’s economy as it was perhaps, the largest revenue earners of the Federal Government.
Mr. Makinde explained that most policies, formed by the government, must be carried out by the Customs Services in order to make Nigerian economy more proactive and prosperous.
Mr Makinde observed that there was hardly any sphere of Nigerian economy where there was no Customs Service, especially in terms of imports.
He confirmed that the Agency generated and contributed more than 1trillion Naira to the Nigeria’s economy annually at the end of the day.
He reiterated that the Service’s three key primary assignments were very important and describing them as a task that must be achieved, in order to fulfil the aspirations of the Federal Government in Nigeria.
The Controller reassured the people of Ogun State that they would have no problems as far as they cooperate with the Customs and carry out legitimate businesses within the country and it’s borders.
Mr Abiodun Makinde called for the understanding of everybody in order that the Nation’s economy would be better and bouyant to the benefits of all.
