Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has said that his administration would continue to give the third tier of government, the support required to deliver dividends of good governance closer to the people.
The Governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako- Oyedele at the Governor’s office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, when he received a team from the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), Abuja, said that his administration realised the roles of the local government and had decided to ensure that they had all the financial independence it required, to make life meaningful for the people at the grassroots.
Prince Abiodun assured the team that his administration would continue to do all it could, towards increasing its Investment base, saying “the Local government is very important to our administration, because it is the closest to the grassroots and we are passionate about making sure the people feel the impact of good governance, through the local government”.
Earlier in his remarks, the leader of the delegation, who is also the Federal Commissioner RMAFC, Osun State, Mr. Oladele Gboyega expressed delight at the decision of the present administration in the State, to give the local government all the needed support it requires, added that the Commission was in the State to review the revenue allocation indices, used to allocate money from the Federation account, to the three tiers of government.
The Commissioner stressed that the review was in three stages; sensitisation, collation and verification of data, noted that there was no need for the State government to engage a third party or a consultant in the collation of the data to be submitted to the Commission.
He had on his team, the Federal Commissioner RMAFC for Ogun State; Mr. Adebayo Fari, Director, Fiscal Efficiency; Tanimu Aliyu, Zonal Coordinator, Lagos Zone; Mrs. Lami Zorto, Folorunso Ade, Jalo Yuguda, Olujobi Augusta, Abubakar Gabdo and Suleiman Adigambo.
