Ogun State government has commended IHS Towers, a telecoms infrastructure provider, for identifying with the Prince Dapo Abiodun led-administration to provide food bags to 9000 vulnerable homes, to cushion the lockdown order, occasioned by the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic ravaging the world.
Receiving the palliatives in Abeokuta, Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, represented by the State Commissioner for Special Duties and Inter Governmental Affairs, Barr. Femi Ogunbanwo, said government was appreciative of the innumerable support and contributions of corporate bodies, religious organizations and public spirited individuals towards making life bearable for the people of the State at this trying period in global history.
“On behalf of the Governor and the good people of the state, I will like to thank IHS for providing the food palliatives for our people, and the Nigeria Red Cross in the distribution process to the vulnerable in the society’’.
Also Speaking, a Special Assistant to the Governor, Mr. Dimeji Belo, noted that company has demonstrated a high level of responsibility to reach out to the vulnerable and underprivileged in six Local Council Areas of the State, adding that the gesture was to preach love and show utmost concern to the plight of the people during the restriction order.
Explaining the mode of distribution, Executive Branch Secretary of Nigeria Red Cross, Ogun State Branch, Mr. Aboyade Oluwole, said the Society would be distributing the palliatives in selected localities of Abeokuta North, Ado-Odo/Ota, Ijebu-ode, Yewa South, Obafemi Owode and Sagamu local government areas of the state, commending IHS for alleviating the people’s suffering during the lockdown period.
