….As Ijebu Council of Baale Declare Support
ABEOKUTA – The Ogun State governorship candidate of Social Democratic Party (SDP), Otunba Rotimi Paseda has decried lack of portable water for the electorate in the state.
Paseda said provision of drinkable water for the citizenry should be part of social amenities programmes of a responsible government.
He spoke at Ijebu-Atan in Ijebu North-East Area of Ogun State on Thursday as part of his campaign rallies promising to revamp the Ogun State Water Corporation to make tap water accessible to all and sundry in the state.
He frowned at the suffering of the people in search of drinkable water in the State due to scarcity of water in the dry season.
According to the 2015 UPN governorship candidate, pipe borne water is a necessity in every home, as it reduces risk of contacting water borne diseases through the untreated water system.
“It is no hidden fact that, there’s lack of portable water in the state for about seven years now. When APC government came to power in 2011 in the state, its cut off the pipe supplying water to every household and communities in the state due to road construction.
“But as soon as the government completed the road construction in some communities, it failed to connect the pipes to make the residents have access to drinkable water. This is sad, water that is a natural resources has now been come a costly commodity.
“Borehole water has now become a goldmine for our people because the government has failed in its responsibility in providing social amenities for the electorate. When I look at the suffering of my people in getting water it makes me sad. If am elected, I will make sure all the social amenities are provided especially pipe borne water which will put an end to provision of borehole by the people”.
Meanwhile, more endorsements have come the way of Gubernatorial Candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Ogun State, Otunba Rotimi Paseda, as he received the endorsement of Ijebu Atan Council of Baale and Chiefs in Ijebu North East local government area of the state.
