ABUJA – The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday said they have mapped out new strategies aimed at checking alleged plans by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to manipulate and rig the 2019 general election.
The party’s national publicity secretary, Mr Kola Ologbodiyan, who stated during an interactive session with journalists in Lagos alleged that the ruling party has an election rigging formula that gives the party an edge over others parties contesting polls in the country.
According to him, the PDP is aware of this formula used by the party to win elections in Ekiti and Osun States and will ensure that they burst the plans in the forthcoming elections.
Ologbodiyan explained that the party’s presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, is the best presidential candidate that has the passion to reposition not just the nation’s economy but the Nigerian youths as future leaders of the country.
He said Atiku has promised that 40 per cent of his government will be populated by the youths, adding that his minister of Youth will be less than 30 years old if elected in 2019 elections.
He said Atiku’s gesture has become imperative because the youths are the future of the country and tomorrow’s leaders.
Ologbodiyan said, “PDP Presidential candidate has said 40 per cent of his government will be youth and his minister of Youth will be less than 30 years. That tells you the kind of passion he has for the youths.
He knows that the youths are the future of this country. We will build a good future for the country.”
According to him, the PDP candidate intends to create jobs for teeming Nigerians in the unemployment market by creating jobs by lowering tax rates and industrial tariffs for the private sector as it is practised in most industrialised countries.
Ologbodiyan further said, “In most industrialised countries, it is the private sector that create jobs. They do that? They lower tax rate. That is exactly what Alhaji Atiku will do when he wins the election. He has said everywhere, If you issue lower tax rates to most companies, they will create jobs. These are the types of incentives you offer the private sector so that they will be able to create jobs. By lowering industrial tariff rates, they will create the jobs for the people.”
He said the PDP candidate will fight corruption differently by strengthening anti graft agencies by making them independent and functional, adding that it is also part of Atiku’s plans to initiate the process that would restructure the country in the first six months in office by adopting the recommendations of 2014 national conference.
He noted that as someone who understands the nuances of the country, Atiku will not only create wealth but will ensure that the country is united and peaceful for everyone.
Adding that the war against insurgency is also part of the PDP led government’s plans if voted by the electorate, saying the current fight against insurgency has been hampered by the decision of the federal government to retain the service chiefs amid their inability to win the battle.
