The Ekiti State Pensioners urged the Governor, Kayode Fayemi to investigate the reason why the delayed in paying them their pensions, despite the promise He made to them in introducing a Centralised payment system for all pensioners in the state.
According to the Chairman of Concerned Local Government Pensioners’ Association of Nigeria in the state, Alhaji Quadri Oguntuase, and the Secretary, Mr Abiodun Agboola, said this statement to the Journalist that,they are worried about their members who had not been paid their pensions for last month, November 2018.
Quadri Oguntuase explained to the journalists on Tuesday in Ado Ekiti, that many of their members had challenges on Medical and they are suffering from it, so we are urging the governor to intervene and resolve the delay in paying them.
Oguntuase also said, “Our fear was assuaged by the promise made by the governor that all state and local government pensioners would be paid centrally to ensure a prompt payment and check corruption. We agreed with this arrangement and praised the governor for this landmark initiative.
“On November 30, in line with Fayemi’s vow to pay as and when due, all the serving local government workers, state retirees and even primary school teacher pensioners received their money while the local government retirees were left out.”
