President Buhari Accepts Honorary Indigenship of Ogun State; Recalls His Happy Stay And Relationship With People In Abeokuta And Ifo.


Commander In Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Major General Muhammadu Buhari, has expressed delight and satisfaction in accepting the Honorary Indigenship of Ogun State offered him by Governor Abiodun and the people of the State.

President Muhammadu Buhari made this known in his address while commissioning the City Gate at the Sagamu Abeokuta Inter-change on Thursday 13th of January, 2022.

The President recalled that, he was not a new man to Ogun State and the addition to his names, the Omowale ( Our son has returned home), was an appropriate and acceptable accolade.

He commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for being a silent achiever, recalling that the compendium of his One Year in Office in Ogun was pleasantly surprising, adding that the Governor had done very much.

President Buhari said, he was also pleased to be practically commissioning five visionary projects on same day in same State.

Buhari described the quality of the roads construction in Ogun State as very impressive especially the Federal roads, adding that, the Federal Authorities were pleased to be partnering with Ogun on the maintenance of Federal Government roads.

He referred every good works, Ogun was doing on two federal roads, Ijebu Ode-Epe and Sagamu Interchange-Abeokuta, examples of good and working partnership between Federal and States.

The President acceded to the immediate Federal intervention on critical and economic Federal Roads in Ogun State, requiring repairs, reconstruction and completion.

He promised Government’s Intervention on Lagos/Abeokuta, Ota-Idiroko, Sagamu-Ogijo roads

President Buhari reassured the Governor and people of Ogun State that, the roads would receive Federal touches soonest.

They included Abeokuta-Ota, Ota-Idiroko and Sagamu-Papalanto Roads.

President Mohammad Buhari also commended Ogun housing projects as beneficiary to all economic strata of the society.

He noted that, the City Gateway signified togetherness of Ogun State people.

Buhari concluded by calling and describing Dapo Abiodun as a most purposeful Governor in Nigeria.

In his welcome address, the Chief host of the Commissioning, Prince Dapo Abiodun, described President Buhari as a Greatest lover of the State.

In his remarks, Prince Abiodun, profusely thanked Buhari for his unrelenting fatherly support for development of the State.

He noted that, they were mostly delighted to receive the President in the State, after the postponement of his initial visit to Ogun State scheduled for December, 2021.

The Governor said, it was an honour done to the people of the State, adding that, this was the first visit of President Muhammadu Buhari to Ogun State, since he came into the office and he also look forward to more of it

Prince Abiodun also disclosed that, a few years ago, he was with the President to share some success stories of his stewardship in office, adding that, it was presented in a compendium but Covid-19 Protocol couldn’t allow gatherings, such as formal commissioning of projects.

He acknowledged President Buhari for the support and goodwill, the people of Ogun had been enjoying, even before, he was sworn into office.

He reiterated that, all the projects and programmes in his administration were deliberate and guided by the vision of the State.

He added that, his administration’s vision was to give a focused and qualitative Governance, well-placed and enabled environment for the prosperity of the people of the State.

The Governor disclosed that, the selected projects, that President Buhari would be commissioning were symbolic of the various types of projects across all sectors of the State’s economy and they were spread all through the three senatorial districts

Prince Abiodun reconfirmed that, his administration had continued to fulfil all her promises with the people’s situation within the available means in Ogun State.

He made it known that, under the State’s five pillars, with the acronym ‘ISE YA,’ have their meaning, noting that, I stands for Infrastructure, S stands for Social Welfare and Health, E stands for Education, Y stands for Youth Empowerment and Job Creation, and A stands for Agriculture.
