The Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, His Majesty, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, CFR, Okukenu Iv, has called on Nigerians not to forget in a hurry the lessons learnt during the out gone year of 2020, especially during the nation wide lock down, occasioned by the deadly Corona Virus Pandemic.
Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, in his New Year message, noted that, some of the lessons, willy nilly learnt during the period, included the need to observe sustainable healthy habits, preparedness for emergencies, regular updating of our health institutions, being our brother’s keepers as well as giving back to the society and the vulnerable.
The Egba Apex Monarch also recalled that the need to remember God as the Ultimate came to the fore as there were many local and national prayers to stem the pandemic.
The Alake therefore urged Nigerians to believe and follow all Government and Health Experts’ directives, such as wearing face masks, washing of hands regularly and maintaining physical distancing all the time.
Oba Adedotun Gbadebo specially appreciated Egba compatriots in the USA and Canada, those in the UK and Europe as well as many Egbas at home, for living up to the expectations of the Lisabi philosophy of Community Cooperation and Compassion among the Egbas.
The Alake also thanked the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun and his team for their cooperation and more plan to make Abeokuta a worthy State Capital, adding that, the newly signed 2021 Budget would further boost the infrastructural and economic activities in Egbaland and Ogun State in general.
The Alake also remembered the Egba sons and daughters who are working day and night to develop Egbaland socially, culturally and economically, adding that Egba history would have special place of honour for them.
Oba Adedotun Gbadebo prayed for better economy and excellent security for 2021 and beyond.
