The Egba Muslim Community Is To Formally Have A New Grand Imam on Thursday, 23 July, 2020, at the Egba Central Mosque, Kobiti, Abeokuta.
This was disclosed at a news conference addressed by the Chief Host and Coordinator of the inauguration, Chief Rasheed Raji, the BabaAdeen of Egbaland.
In his address to the Press, Navy Capt. Rasheed Raji, told the Press that because of Covid19 pandemic, the inauguration Committee had taken necessary safety measures in line with the government, health experts, and common sense, to ensure that there would be no health risks at the venue.
The Chief Host called for total understanding of the situation by the well wishers of the new Imam by staying at home, adding that at the appropriate time, the Chief Imam would be readily available to all and sunder.
He appealed also to the Clerics and other members of the public not to do anything that might cause embarrassment to the Chief Imam, the Egba Muslim Organisation, and themselves as the security personnel.
He disclosed that only those that had been formally invited by letters, some principal Imams, such as Oke Ona, Gbagura, Owu, Ijaye, and Ibara, as well as principal Muslim Clerics such as Olori Ratibi, Olori Omo Keu, Olori Adinni, and others were allowed to come into the venue. He added that the Principal Imams may be accompanied by only one person.
The Navy Captain Rasheed Raji disclosed that the two hour inauguration programme which would begin at eleven o’clock in the morning, would close by one o’clock in the afternoon.
He pleaded that the cooperation, understanding and support of every Muslim faithful would be appreciated.
Speaking in the same vein, the Chairman of the Committee, Chief Layi Labode, told the press that he had the instructions to ensure that Covid19 protocols concerning safety and health of individuals would be followed by the letter.
He disclosed that official invitations had been sent to the few invitees which the Central Mosque main Hall could accommodate without a risk to the safety and health of individuals.
Members of the Inauguration Planning Committee present at the occasion included, the Chief Host and the BabaAdeen of Egbaland, Chief Rasheed Raji, Sheikh Soli Adenekan, Alhaji Salawu Musa-Olomu, Assistant Secretary of the planning committee, Imam Emere, Alhaji Adeosun, the Bashorun of Egba Muslims and Akingboye of Egba Muslims, the Waziri of Egbaland and Imam of Ilaho ; Aare of Oke Ona, Alhaji Nojeem Gbadamosi; and Aare Baaroyin of Egbaland, Chairman of the Committee, Chief Layi Labode.
Meanwhile, the Chief Imam and spiritual leader of the Egba Muslim Community, Sheikh Sa’ad Bamigbola, has called on his Muslim Chiefs and Clerics, as well as his admirers and family members to be very understanding about the protocols of the Covid19 in relations to his inauguration this Thursday.
The new Egba Muslim spiritual leader appealed to those who were not invited officially by letters to stay away, adding that Almighty Allah shall grant him and all his well wishers long life and good health.
The new Apex Imam of Egbaland made the appeal on Tuesday, while addressing members of the Planning Committee for his inauguration this week, at a meeting held at the BabaAdeen Rasheed Raji’s house,Ibara, Abeokuta, on Tuesday.
Sheikh Sa’ad Bamigbola noted that the unforeseen situation, occasioned by Covid19 had made it necessary to control attendance at his inauguration as the Chief Imam of Egbaland, adding that the directives of the government and health officials, should be religiously followed in order to ensure safety and good health of everyone.
