Towards repositioning Education in Ogun State, regular evaluation and assessment in schools have been identified as important and indispensable to the education sector.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Primary, Secondary and Technical Education, Mrs. Ronke Soyombo, stated this during a training programme for Quality Assurance Officers in the State Ministry of Education Science and Technology, Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and the Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), at Lisabi Grammar School, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta.
Soyombo noted that quality assurance was for the evaluation and monitoring of best practices in education, adding that, Officers have to be abreast of the changes in education, which have become dynamic as time passes.
She said the training became expedient because quality assurance officers are the accountants of education and the department acting as the auditors, therefore aimed at preparing their minds on what was expected of them in the discharge of their duties.
The Special Adviser admonished them to always give concise and factual reports, be objective in their evaluation, in line with the statutes of the profession, saying their appearance was also key in their functionality as quality Assurance persons.
In their separate good will messages, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education Science and Technology, Mr. Olu Ola Aikulola, Permanent Secretary, TESCOM and Board Secretary, SUBEB, charged the officers to be up and doing in the discharge of their duties, as the needed improvement in the education sector was dependent on them.
