Stakeholders in the education sector in Ogun State have been charged to chart a course in repositioning the standard of education, to enable the State regain its lost glory.
The Special Adviser to the State Governor on Primary and Secondary Education, Mrs. Ronke Soyombo stated this at a meeting with All Nigeria Conference of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), led by its President, Mrs. Olubunmi Womiloju at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, noting that development in education could be achieved through meaningful synergy between government and ANCOPSS members, in order to restore healthy competition, discipline, quality teaching and learning.
‘’We are going to restore more discipline, excellence and good morals to our schools, results of our students will nowbe made public to engender more efforts and healthy competitions, security in schools will be prioritised; school management and standards will take a new shape from henceforth. I believe our educational standard is guaranteed, if all these are successfully put in place”, she said.
The Special Adviser assured the body of government’s commitment in proffering solutions to other challenges, such as, parental influence, poor hostel management, admission standard, shortage of teachers among others.
In her remarks, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Mrs. Abosede Ogunleye, who appreciated the principals for their leadership quality, said government would not rest on its oars until standard was restored, saying schools would be properly fumigated before resumption.
The ANCOPSS President commended State Government’s strive in upgrading schools, enjoining principals to maintain their standard and adhere strictly to the decisions reached at the meeting.
