The Retired Primate of the Anglican Church, Nigeria Communion, the Most Reverend Peter Jasper Akinola, has accused all past political and military rulers of engaging in ungodly bloodshedding in the sociopolitical development of the country.
The retired Anglican Primate, who was delivering Commemoration sermon, marking the 60th Anniversary of Nigeria’s Independence, noted that the Nation’s bloodletting started with the fallouts of the political quarrel between Obafemi Awolowo and Ladoke Akintola called Operation Wet E, meaning, “Spray Petrol On Him and Burn Him Down,”
Referencing the book of Ezeikel, Retired Bishop Akinola said that Nigerian leaders, like the Priests mentioned in Eziekel, were plundering the land, killing people and doing all sorts of crimes to the people.
The crimes which were being committed by all the five categories of leaders that were guilty of crimes, committed by Israel leaders 3,000 years ago, are being repeated today.
He mentioned that the Ibadan to Lagos road, built with #90million, in three years, is still being repaired for the past 21 years by Obasanjo, Y,’Ardua, Jonathan and Buhari.
The Retired Bishop also said we could not continue to be in sin, and described Nigeria as a blood-shedding country.
He further explained that the root of this blood-shedding started in Western Nigeria between Awolowo and Akintola.
After the first bloody coup, other reprisal coups followed and we have since then, been in blood-shed.
Akinola recalled Araba, meaning- separation of infidels from faithfuls, he stated that Insurgents are not insurgents, they are Jihadists, and that Fulani Herdsmen are the other side of the coin of Boko Haram because they carried Ak47 instead of a staff.
Retired Bishop Peter Akinola said we must all repent our national sin,
He argued that Nigeria would only grow, proster and work, until we all confess our sins and repent.
He concluded that Nigeria should stop blood-shedding and have National Repentance, so that the Country would grow and develop again.
Meanwhile, the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has expressed hope that Nigeria would not disintegrate, in spite of many predictions by Prophets and Spiritual leaders.
