Ogun State government has shown its readiness to cover the academic lapses of students, as a result of the lockdown caused by COVID-19 pandemic.
This was disclosed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Primary and Secondary Education, Mrs. Ronke Soyombo during the resumption monitoring exercise to schools in Abeokuta metropolis.
Soyombo lauded principals and other school administrators for being resilient in the discharge of their duty, which had led to a successful resumption, commending parents and guardians for rising up to the clarion call in the upbringing of their wards.
“I feel highly elated that students are finally back to school. With all the things we have seen, I want to thank Governor Dapo Abiodun for providing all the necessary materials needed for COVID-19 compliance. I also thank all our school leaders, especially the principals and head teachers for refining the school premises. They are leaders that are actually taking a lot of efforts in improving the standard of education in the State”, she submitted.
Speaking, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Mrs. Abosede Ogunleye appreciated parents for supporting government at ensuring that the standard of education was restored, assuring that government would not rest on its oars in prioritising good education.
The Principals of Abeokuta Grammar School Senior and Abeokuta Girls Grammar School Junior, Mr. Dare Sorinola and Mrs. Melody Sobayo respectively said they were happy to welcome their students back to school, promising that COVID-19 safety protocols would always be observed.
