A former two term Governor of Ogun State and currently, the Senator, representing Ogun State Central Senatorial District, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has been speaking on how he would bring about lasting solutions to Nigeria’s miriad problems.
Senator Ibikunle Amosun who was formally declaring his intention to take a shot as the next President of the Country in Abuja on Thursday, 5th May 2022, said that he and some others, had been very close to the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC, to know, analyse and fully understand what it would take to bring about enduring solutions and take Nigeria to the next level.
Delivering his address to his supporters and APC high stakeholders from across the country at the Shehu-Musa Yar Adua Centre, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Amosun disclosed that his cognate experiences at the very close administrative and political quarters, would enable him to continue to build upon what President Buhari had achieved so far on security, the economy, education, and other social infrastructures, which he envisioned would fast track, what he described as human security and economic transformation.
The Presidential Aspirant argued that, linking security and economic development, would enable the country to confront the underlying causes of the multiple threats to our national security.
Senator Ibikunle Amosun projected that, his leadership would conduct a compressive audit of security problems and the existing infrastructures for responding to them.
He added that he would promote greater inter-agency collaboration and coordination among in the security sector and forge a new model of complementarity in security management among the Federal, State and Local governments thereby ensuring better protection of life and property of our people.
He said that he was optimistic that this would reframe the country’s security architecture.
Senator Ibikunle Amosun told his supporters and audience that his 6-Point Agenda to take Nigeria forward, would be rooted and pillared on Buhari’s achievements in the past 8 years.
He pointed out that a few of the achievements in the last 8 years include, among others, a significant expansion of our national economic infrastructure, and a framework the National Social Register for supporting the most vulnerable amongst our population.
According to him, the third was the emphasis on agriculture which had seen the sector modernize and grow consistently as evidenced by the increase in domestic rice production and the resuscitation of the agriculture input sector, especially fertilizer blending.
He disclosed that other areas where his transformation efforts would be the Transitioning To A Post-Oil Economy, Building A Modern, Sustainable and Rapidly Rising Agro-Industrial Economy and Becoming A Globally Competitive Economy.
Amosun said his above projections would make the Nigerian State become a favoured destination for investment in Africa as well as giving the country the capacity and capability to lead the evolution of the Africa Continental Free Trade Area Agreement (AfCFTA).
Senator Ibikunle Amosun said that 2023 elections provided Nigerians with an opportunity to renew their faith as a people capable of transforming the Nation into what it truly should be: a land of plenty, adding that he had no doubt that we would come together again to rebuild the country and confront our common challenges as a people.
He said he was offerimg himself as the one to harness the extraordinary capacities of this generation of young Nigerians for national greatness, to be a vehicle for the project of national renewal as well as the revitalization that all Nigerians crave for.
Amosun pledged that he was ready to be the administrative instrument that would turn our National story from one, that was about the potentials to the one about actualities.
He promised that he would be the President that would take all the past various setbacks and victories, the despairs and jubilations, which had characterised the calendar of our national history and turn them all into elements of our collective national glory.
Concluding, the Presidential Aspirant reassured of Almighty God’s support, and was convinced about the actualization of the potential greatness of our country, and confident about his vision and capacity to lead this country.
Senator Ibikunle Amosun therefore asked the Nigerian Compatriots, particularly members of his Party, the All Progressives Congress, to support his bid for the Presidential Ticket of the APC, which would translate ultimately to his being the next President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.Many notable APC leaders and stakeholders from all over Nigeria attended the Abuja Declaration of Interest and Intention to contest for the President of the Country, come 2023, Senator Ibikunle Amosun.
They included the Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, also a Presidential Aspirant, who gave a speech in support of Amosun’s candidature, Serving and Former Senators, Members, House of Representatives, some of who gave goodwill messages, Party faithfuls and delegates from Ogun and other States of the country.
