Ogun State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Kehinde Oluwadare has charged media practitioners to partner government by bringing to bare, their expertise towards development of Sport in the State.
Hon. Oluwadare gave the charge while playing host to the executives of Sport Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Ogun State Chapter, who were on a courtesy visit to the Ministry, at Moshood Abiola International Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta, enjoining them not to hesitate in collaborating with the Ministry, as plans were underway to revamp sports in the State.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman of the Association, Alhaji Akeem Akintunde, said the body should be seen as stakeholders, whose only goal was to develop sports by proffering solutions to issues affecting the sector, urging the State Government to key into suggestions that would further boost improvement of sports.
“We are also stakeholders in sport in the State and we don’t want to be seen as an organisation that will only criticize and not proffer solutions to issues. When we criticize, we offer solutions too and it is always positive”, he said.
Akintunde noted that they were in the Ministry as a body, to lend their voice and offer valuable advice to the development of sports in the State, saying the Commissioner should see them as partners that could be called upon to clarify issues affecting sports.
In his remark, Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth, Hon. Olamide Lawal, appreciated SWAN members for the visit, reiterating the resolve of Prince Dapo Abiodun’s administration to give facelift to sport in the State.
