The authority of Yewa North Local Government Area has taken delivery of about 2,750 sacks of palliative items, being distributed by the State Government to cushion the effect of the 14-day ‘stay at home’ order by the Federal and Ogun State governments.
Each pack of palliative item contains 5kg of rice, 5kg of beans, 5kg of garri, salt, seasoning cube, 4 sachets of vegetable oil and 5 sachets of tomato paste.
Receiving the items, Chairman, Transition Committee, who is also the Chairman, Palliative Distribution Committee, Hon. David Bankole, assured that the items would be shared across the 11 Wards of the Council, adding that a similar Committee would be formed at the Ward level to distribute the items to the vulnerable.
“The Committees, both at the LG and Ward levels, comprising, the Iyaloja, a representative of Muslim, Christian, Council of Baale and Community Development Council would handle and monitor the distribution and will be nonpartisan”, Bankole assured.
In their separate remarks, members, Ogun State House of Assembly, representing Isokan Hon. Adeyanju Awoso and Hon. Aruna Egugbohun representing Ketu, thanked Governor Dapo Abiodun for the gesture, promising even distribution of the items to the needy.
