The Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, has called on the new Commissioner of Police, to sustain and even reduce the crime rate in Ogun State.
Oba Adedotun Gbadebo noted with satisfaction that Ogun State had always recorded lowest crime rates in Nigeria.
The Egba Paramount Monarch however enjoined the new Commissioner of Police to caution some Policemen and formations to stop taking land cases to Abuja for intervention in order to make opponent stakeholders unfairly disadvantaged.
Oba Gbadebo appealed the new Commissioner to ensure that such issues resolved within Ogun State.
Alake also asked the new Commissioner to ensure that Police are no longer used to harass people on land issues, adding that such civil cases should be handed to civil courts to adjudicate.
Earlier in his address, the Ogun State new Commissioner of Police, Mr Edward Awolowo Ajogun, thanked the Alake for his usual unflinching support for the Police.
He pledged his determination to keep crime lowest as it had been the tradition in the State.
He also told the Alake that he would always be steps ahead of criminals.
He said he is committed to handling protests in humanitarian manner by respecting civil rights without allowing such to degenerate to anarchy.
He added that the police were knowledgeable today and more professional to handle police operations, based on civility and respect.
CP Awolowo Ajogun said his leadership would work closely in collaboration and cooperation with the Community and Stakeholders, adding that there could not be successful policing without Community support, which was the best option to crime free security.
CP Awolowo Ajogun also told the Alake that he had come for his royal blessings.
The new Commissioner of Police was accompanied to the Ake Palace by DCP Abdullahi Tijani; ACP Edun, Area Commander; CSP Samuel Awopetu; SP Edeh Barry; DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, and others.
Also members of Police Public Relationship Committee present included Engr Dapo Adesanya, Deputy Chairman, PCRC; Alhaji Ibrahim Olaniyan, National Vice Chairman, PCRC, Southwest; Ven (Dr) Samson Popoola, State Chairman; Alhaji Farouk Akintunde, and others.
