Sunmisola Ajayi of the Girls Senior Secondary School, Ikoyi, Lagos has emerged winner of an art competition organised by the Rotary Club of Ikoyi Metro.
The contest tagged, ‘Save-The-Earth Competition’ was organised by the club in support of the earth and as part of the Rotary International Club 7th area of focus to support the environment.
The Coordinator of Interact Schools and former President of Rotary Club of Ikoyi-Metro, Rotarian Delight Sunday-Anicho, who explained the modalities for participation said each of the four schools represented by an artist presents a portrait that was uploaded on the club’s Facebook and Instagram pages with explanations and request for likes.
The four schools and their representatives are; Christiana Kole of Falomo Senior High School; Sunmisola Ajayi from Girls Senior Secondary School; Gift Akwaje from Ireti Senior Secondary School and Omolade Oluwafemi and the representative of the Government Senior Secondary School, all in Ikoyi.
At the end of the online completion, the drawing presented by Sunmisola Ajayi of Girls Senior Secondary School won with the highest number of likes totalling 1,142 to clinch the first position.
Christiana Kole of Falomo Senior High School with 873 likes emerged second; Oluwafemi Omolade of Government Senior Secondary School was third with 489 likes while the representative of Ireti Senior Secondary School, Gift Akwaje was in the fourth position with 297 likes.
The club explained that the art competition was in support of the environment and protection by human beings.
“As a club, we organised the competition to protect our environment using children, educate them on the need to support the environment, highlight some of the dangers of human acts as it affects the environment and for the children to come up with ideas using artworks to tell a story about how to save the Earth,” the club explained.
