The immediate, extended family and friends of the late Ogboye of Egbaland, High Chief Solomon Olufunso Akinremi, have been enjoined to keep the flag of qualitative leadership, selflessness, Godliness and Milk of Human Kindliness, left by the Christian Icon, flying.

Rev D. O. Akinremi, the Bishop of Igbore Christ African Church made the call at the Thanksgiving Service for the late Patriarch on Sunday August 5, 2021

In his sermon at the Thanksgiving Service for the late Ogboye, Rev Akinremi also advised the children and family of the deceased to uphold the good name of their father in the various groups which he was recognised with.

He added that Chief S. O. Akinremi had been a strong pillar in the Improvement Society and his children needs to fill the vacuum.

The Cleric reminded the children and acquaintances that the late Ogboye had paid his dues to God, his immediate society and humanity in general, adding that it was left to the family and society to keep the flag flying.

Speaking to Newsflagship in an interview, Dr Leke Akinremi, one of the sons of Late Ogboye Egba, said the past week had been a successful week beyond everybody’s imagination.

In his words, “the farewell Ceremony that we gave to our father was a wonderful one. Looking back, all we have to do is give thanks to God and give all the glory to God for a life well celebrated, as well as a life well lived.

He also said that the eulogies rained on their late father by various dignitaries and religious institutions brought for them as children, a sober reflection to really think well.

“There is a standard that had been set by our father and we need to even go higher than that which had been set by our great Patron and father.” He added.

“Hopefully, with what we’ve learnt from him, his wisdom and knowledge, by the Grace of God we’ll be able to do greater than what he has done.”

Dr Leke Akinremi also said that late Chief S O Akinremi had already immortalised himself in Egbaland even before he died.

He added that many people had said a lot about him.

According to him, even the tributes from the Egba High Chiefs had said it all.

This showed that he had been a great leader, a peaceful leader, that settles any kind of dispute in any community.

“He had maintained peace and decorum in Egbaland for a long time and will be missed for his great contributions.” He stated.

“He had made a great memoriam for himself through his works.
We as children can only try and make sure we keep that baton flying to make sure his name is forever imprinted in the history of Egbaland.”
