The leader and Chairman of SWAGA 2023, Senator Dayo Adeyeye, has described Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the best candidate to replace President Muhammad Buhari at the expiration of his tenure for the 2023 presidential election.
He revealed this at the Ake Palace, Ake Abeokuta when he led members of the group on a visit to the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo.
Senator Adeyeye told his host and chiefs that SWAGA 2023 members were at the Ake Palace to intimate the monarch, seek his blessings and that of other traditional rulers in Egbaland of the mission to reposition their leader and mentor, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2023 election.
Besides, Adeyeye explained that the group that was founded on 15th December 2020 had earlier visited Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II; the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III and over 25 prominent traditional rulers to support the candidature of the Aare Ago of Egbaland as the most brilliant option to lead Nigeria through SWAGA, the Southwest Agenda.
According to Adeyeye, there exists a succession agreement in place ahead of 2023 when Muhammadu Buhari leaves office and emphasised that it must be respected and implemented.
He disclosed there are other groups with the same agenda as the SWAGA, saying All are geared towards making a Yoruba candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the most outstanding and acceptable, saying members of the group were private individuals acting independently of Tinubu.
Earlier, Senator Gbenga Obadara told the Alake and other Egba Chiefs that the group and other Yoruba patriots with similar mission identified with Alake’s quality leadership and thanked the monarch for the warm reception accorded the group, saying they were concerned about the peace and stability of Yorubaland and Nigeria in general.
Besides, he disclosed that the group had visited all the 253 wards in Ogun State ahead of a formal launch in the ancient city.
In his response, the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo called on Southwest politicians to understand and fully identify their strengths, weaknesses of the Nigerian federation and settle for the best option in the overall interest of the nation.
Oba Gbadebo, lauded the choice of Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu as their candidate for 2023 as a national figure with enormous energy and political sagacity to lead the country.
The Alake noted that the Aare Ago of Egbaland has invested and promoted human capital in the governance, business, and stability of Nigeria.
The Alake, therefore, charged SWAGA 2023 to work hard in collaboration and coordination with other interest groups to lead Nigeria for peace and progress.
