The Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun has charged National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members, posted to the State to take full advantage of their service year, to nurture their creative instincts and contribute positively towards development of the State.
Abiodun gave the charge at the formal opening and Swearing–in ceremony of 2019 batch ‘B’ stream 1 NYSC orientation course , held at Ogun State NYSC orientation camp Sagamu.
The Governor, who was represented by the State Deputy Governor, Engr. Mrs. Noimot Salako Oyedele, urged them to continue on the good path of learning and take the once in a life time opportunity of serving their father land seriously, to enable them contribute positively to the development of the country.
His words, “ as a matter of fact, you have come to our dear State at the beginning of our Administration, as we are getting all necessary hands on deck to achieve great development strides in all-sectors of our dear State’s economy. We are committed to rekindling the hope of our people in government by embarking on projects that will not only have positive impacts on their lives but also ensure a prosperous future for generations yet unborn in the State”.
Also speaking, representative of the Chairman, Ogun State NYSC Governing Board and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Mr. Kolawole Fagbohun , noted that since the establishment of NYSC scheme in the country, it has been a veritable institution for national unity and integration.
According to him, “the visionary leaderships of the founding fathers of this scheme must be commended always, for giving the youths the opportunity to interact with people from other ethnic groups of the country than those from their States of origin and ethnic backgrounds. It has provided our young graduates platform and benefit of imbibing the spirit of selfless service, patriotism, loyalty, high sense of responsibility, teamwork and endurance”.
The State Director, NYSC, Mrs. Belinda Faniyi while commending the efforts and support of the State Government for the programme, which she noted cannot be compared, said it was the best any responsible government could give to any youths, assuring that the scheme would continue to contribute to development youths.
