Chairman Ijebu-Ode Local Government, Engr. Olugbenga Olugbile has said that the role of teachers in nation building cannot be overlooked, as they were saddled with the responsibility of moulding children’s character through impartation of enduring knowledge.
The LG Boss made this known while hosting Nigeria Union of Teachers, Ijebu-Ode Branch in his office, saying government and other stakeholders must accord priority to teachers, as they build foundation for other professionals, from elementary to secondary education, in order to make their dreams a reality.
“Roles of teachers are very significant in nation building. If students are guided by good teachers, they will pass same value system to future generation. But if they are manipulated, used and nurtured in wrong direction, they will pass the same to future generations as well”.
Commending teachers on the outcome of NECO result, where Ogun State came first, the LG boss assured that, each of the 43 primary schools in the LGA would be given a functioning first aid and health workers would be mandated to always inspect the primary schools.
Responding, Chairman NUT, Ijebu-Ode Branch, Comrade Olu Adegbesan, appreciated the Council Boss for his promise to provide some amenities to primary school, saying this would boost pupils and teachers’ well-being.
