There is tension among members of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State as Gov. Ibikunle Amosun escorted the Chairman of the Allied People’s Movement (APM), Mr Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, to President Muhammadu Buhari.
The APM National Chairman was in the villa with Amosun to present his party’s adoption letter to Buhari as its presidential candidate for 2019 election.
Amosun’s visit to the villa with the APM boss has since created panic in Ogun APC.
There are speculations that the President is aware of Amosun’s relationship with the APM, the party where his anointed candidate, Adekunle Akinlade, defected to.
This, according to APC faithfuls would spell doom for the party’s candidate, Dapo Abiodun, who Amosun has vowed to work against despite being in the same party.
Recall that the National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, had threatened to report any party that endorsed Buhari to INEC.
The threat, according to some APC members, might not hold water any longer with the warm reception Buhari gave Amosun and Dantalle yesterday.
Political observers are of the opinion that the APM in Ogun might have the backing of the President, who is not happy with the manner in which the primaries were conducted.
It was gathered from a reliable source that Oshiomhole had disobeyed Buhari when he was told to declare Akinlade the candidate of Ogun APC.
