The Apagun-Pote, Chief Shamsideen Akanji Awopeju and his wife the Iyalate of Egbaland, Chief (Mrs) Kudrat Abiola Awopeju, have boosted relief materials to alleviate the suffering of the vulnerable during the lockdown of the State because of Corona Virus Pandemic.
In their address to the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, while delivering some palliatives to the old and the vulnerable at the Ake Palace, the two Egba High Chiefs disclosed that they were aware of the great number of people coming to the Egba Paramount Monarch for palliative materials and subsequently felt that every Egba men and women of means, were obligated to support Alake’s Project to help our immediate neighbours, which they disclosed, they had been doing in their localities.
They also appealed to the general public to religiously obey government directives to stem the COVID19 spread.
In accepting the Relief Materials, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo noted with satisfaction, the large amount of palliative items, brought by the Apagun-Pote and Iyaalate of Egbaland.
Oba Adedotun Gbadebo urged other Egbas to emulate the couple.
The palliatives brought by Apagun Shamsideen Awopeju and his wife included bags of rice, beans, and garri, as well as other foodstuffs including noodles and vegetable oil.
The Egba High Chiefs present during the donation of palliatives included Chief Kehinde Sofenwa, the Bantun of Egbaland, and Chief Layi Labode, the Aare Baaroyin of Egbaland.
