A woman legal practitioner, Mrs. Oketola Olorunwo Sam-Obaleye, is aiming to replicate Jesus Christ by feeding at least 3,000 less prevailed individuals, especially the poor, the widows, the orphans and the aged during the annual Christmas celebration.
This year’s exercise which took place at the Ake Palace last weekend featured the distribution of rice, frozen chicken, groundnut oil, and soft drinks as well as six yards of clothing materials for each beneficiary of the scheme.
In her welcome address, Barrister Olufunlola Sam-Obaleye, who is the founder and President of, Total Women Empowerment and Orientations, explained to the beneficiaries that the idea was emulate both Jesus Christ and other well meaning Nigerians who always have in mind to help the needy and the less privileged while we celebrate.
She noted that her Foundation was not only to distribute free foods and other materials to the poor and needy, it was also counseling them to be self sufficient and economically independent.
She urged the younger recipients to work hard and be self confident, to the extent that they would, in the nearest future, also join her in redistribution of extra materials in their possession for those who need them more.
In his address, the host, His Majesty Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, urged other Egba’s to follow the foot steps of a young woman who was so compassionate to annually make others celebrate in joy.
As a mark of support to the Foundation, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo also distributed clothing materials to the elderly men and women present.
The Primate of the Cathedral Church of the Cherubim and Seraphim, Ifako-Gbagada, Lagos, His Eminence Primate Omolaje Aremu Olorunwo, alias Gbadua-Re, prayed for the founder of the scheme and the beneficiaries.
The Aare Baaroyin of Egbaland, Chief Layi Labode was also in attendance.
