As 2019 General Elections draw close, two former PDP Governors and a former Deputy President of Nigeria have joined the race for the People Democracy Party Presidential Ticket.
The three Big Wigs are Senator Ahmed Makarfi of Kaduna State, Donald Duke of Cross River State and a former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
Senator Ahmed Makarfi, a former Governor of Kaduna State and former Caretaker Committee Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has formally joined those jostling for the party’s 2019 presidential ticket.
Also Former Cross River State Governor Donald Duke had last week also declared his intention to run for the 2019 Presidential ticket on the same party platform.
In a similar development, a former Vice President Atiku Abubakar who recently defected from ruling All progressives Congress (APC) back to his original party, PDP, is currently on nationwide consultation to galvanise support for the party’s presidential ticket.
Ahmed Makarfi formally disclosed his intention in Kaduna on Sunday.
He explained that he had consulted widely and arrived at the conclusion that the time had come for him to contest for the exalted position.
Makarfi unveiled his programme if elected 2019.
He disclosed that his administration would restructure the country, tackling insecurity, fighting corruption with due process and rule of law, improving the economy as well as reuniting the nation.
