Tourism has been described as a great financial potential in boosting the socio-economic status of the State, as well as provide job opportunities to the teeming youth.
Ogun State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Oluwatoyin Taiwo made this known while fielding questions from journalists in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, stating that the present administration in the State has taken steps to ensure that all gold mines inherent in tourism across the State were converted into posterity and economic advancement.
Dr. Taiwo added that tourist sites that were yet to be tapped and utilised would be given priority and publicity to attract investors and in turn boost the economy, saying, identified tourist sites in the State would be upgraded to meet up with the world standard and enable the State be on the world map.
The Commissioner advised residents around tourist’s sites to cooperate with the government and desist from destroying or tampering with facilities in these sites, as this act was capable of discouraging private investors from coming to the State.
He assured citizens that all tourist sites across the three Senatorial Districts of the State would be upgraded into international standard, noting that development was a gradual process and people should exercise patience with the Prince Dapo Abiodun led government to take the State to the next level.
