Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) says, any Officer found guilty of extortion and other corrupt practices would be prosecuted.
A released signed by the Corps Commander and the Chief Executive Officer, Commander Seni Ogunyemi, revealed that the attention of TRACE management has been drawn to the increasing rate of extortion among field commanders and operatives of the Corps.
It stated that, ‘’they allow motorists free passage on the interstate and border lines routes, against the new transport guidelines of Federal and State Governments, as a measure to curb spread of COVID 19 pandemic’’.
The released warned perpetrators to desist from the acts, as the State Government was ready to apply Anti-graft law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on any officer caught.
The General public, according to the release is hereby urged to desist from giving TRACE operatives any form of gratification, except payment for traffic infractions, which should be paid to government treasury through designated banks.
Area commanders, Corridor Commanders, head of Operations, as well as Patrol Team Leaders, Special Squad leaders and Field operatives are hereby cautioned against such acts or face the full wrath of the law.
