The Chief Imam of Gbagura and a former Dean of Faculty of Arts and Languages, Olanisi Onabanjo University, Prof Kamaldeen Balogun, had called on Islamic faithfuls never to feel too old or too young to learn.
The Academic, who was delivering a Lecture On the Essence of continuous learning of the Holy Qur’an at the Graduation of Senior Citizens and the youth of the Ewang Estate Extension Muslim Community, after Proficiency Examination in Basic Knowledge of the Holy Qur’an on Saturday 18 .March, 2022.
Prof Balogun recalled that Holy Prophet Mohammed had enjoined humans to seek knowledge even up to China, which was regarded as a furthermost place in then known world of Europe, Asia and Africa.
The Gbagura Chief Imam commended the Coordinating Imam, Arc Somoye and Chairman, Professor Mujaeed Ajao Adelekan and others who had worked assiduously to ensure that both the young and old benefitted from the very essence of life.
He described the very essence of this world as gaining this world as well as the hereafter, which the Islamic Cleric the Graduands had begun to achieve through the exercise.
The Islamic scholar also took time off to admonish Muslims against coming late to Islamic and other beneficial functions.
The learned Cleric lamented that some Muslims attend Islamic programmes especially lectures, not conscious that such exercise was a means to eternal gain of the Paradise.
Prof Balogun expressed worry that the world was turning upside down, pointing out that five groups of people must not fail the community.
The first is the Wealthy Merchant, who controls the process wealth acquisition in the society, who must not steal the Commonwealth, explaining that the leaders (Politicians and Opinion leaders) of the society who must not misappropriate the commonwealth.
They are the vicegerent of Allah, and by extension, that of the Holy Prophet.
The next is the Ansar, the Helper and supporter of Allah, who must strive and spend in the cause of Allah.
The third is the self contented Holy Clerics, who are distracted by the material acquisitions from their mission.
He assured the Graduands that their lives had been directed towards the right path, the only way to gain the Alkiyaomah.
Speaking further to the Graduands, Prof Jamal Balogun, said that they had become leaders in Islamic Propagation, with their current background
He admonished them not rest on their oars and learn the translation of the Arabic Language of the Holy Quran in Yourba or English.
