VICE PRESIDENT IN ABEOKUTA TO DISCUSS URGENT NATIONAL MATTERS TO ALLAY THE FEARS OF THE CHRISTIAN LEADERSHIP

The Vice President of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo met with the Chieftains of the Christian Association of Nigeria and Christian Leadership in the Southwestern part of Nigeria on what he described as urgent national matters.

Osinbajo disclosed this when he paid  a courtesy visit to the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo at the Ake Palace last weekend (06-07-2018).

The Vice President said that he had come to discuss with the Christian leadership in the Southwest of Nigeria, matters of national importance as they affect Christians with a view to allaying the fears of Christians.

He explained to the Egba Monarch that the discussion was exhaustive and fruitful, adding that the talks were mainly to reassure the Christians and other as well as Nigerians of other faiths in the country for their understanding, support and prayers.

He told the Alake that the Federal Government had a lot of respect for him as a  strategic Community Leader, adding that they cherished the Egba Monarch’s advice which he had been giving them as very useful for good Governance.

Earlier in his welcome addressed, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo had commended Professor Osinbajo for the dexterous ways he had been assisting President Buhari in returning the economy to the part of greatness again.

The Alake said that the Vice President could also be described as a Professor of Economics, noting that the country had started to feel the impact of good governance in the area of economic development and growth.

Meanwhile the Christain Assiociation of Nigeria CAN including the member of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) church yesterday suspended its nationwide planned protest billed to start today (Monday 9-07-2018) against killing in some State of Nigeria.

The suspension of the protest was announced yesterday by the leadership of the association in Abuja.

The announcement however stated that, the seven day fasting which was to accompany the suspended week long protest would still go on alongside with prayers for those who had lost their lives in the killings as well as for the sustainable peace in the country.

Some Top leaders of the Christian Association of Nigeria were on the entourage of the Vice President on courtesy call to the Alake of Egbaland.

They included CAN Chairman of Ogun State Bishop Akin Akinsanya; the Vice President of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN South West, Bishop Dr. Reuben Oke, Archbishop of Remo Diocese of Anglican Communion Most Rev Dr. Fape and the facilitator of the meeting, Dupe Sanyaolu.
