Iliyasu said the suspect was arrested after the father of the deceased, Joseph Adeboyejo reported at Odeda Police station that he had not heard from his son for some time.
The Police Commissioner said that the father told the Police that his son visited him at Ilorin, Kwara state last month and explained a charcoal business he was doing with one leader of Tiv community at Opeji village, while he (the deceased) also received a phone call from the said Tiv leader when he was with him informing the deceased that his charcoal was ready.
He added that according to the father, the deceased left Ilorin to meet the Tiv leader (Jonathan Tsekar) and called him (the father) on phone when he got to the Tiv leader’s house.

He added that the suspect also confessed that he buried the deceased in a shallow grave in the forest where he allegedly assassinated him.
The Police boss said that the act “is not only wicked and callous but also a superlative degree of effrontery, because the suspect knew very well the status of the deceased.”
“The Baale of Tiv community in Opeji village who is the prime suspect in this case, later confessed killing the police corporal by hitting him on the head with a heavy plank of wood in order not to refund the sum of N120,000 only which he collected from the deceased.
“Gentlemen of the press, this is not only wicked and callous act, but also a superlative degree of effrontery because the suspect knew very well the status of the deceased.
“Let me reiterate once again that the command will not allow any act of criminality to go undetected. We are ready to go all out to confront all criminal elements frontally because Ogun State is not a place for them to either fester or hibernate”.
He added that the suspect will soon be charged to court.
