The APC National leader and former Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has told the Alake of Egbaland, why he wanted to succeed Buhari as the next President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu, the Asiwaju of the APC Ruling Party made this known in Abeokuta on Saturday, 12th of February, 2022, during his courtesy call to the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo.
Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu who was accompanied to the Ake Palace by a tumultuous entourage, told the Alake that he had the unequivocal intention to step into Buhari’s shoes as the next President of Nigeria, explaining that he never intended to step on Buhari’s toes.
Asiwaju Bola Tinubu further disclosed that, he had come to seek the royal blessings of the Alake, since he had formally informed President Muhammadu Buhari, that he was interested in becoming Nigeria next President
Tinubu informed Alake that, he was very pleased to report that, President Buhari had given him the go-ahead and asked him to tell other Party Stakeholders and Nigerians about his (Tinubu’s) intention as well as his (Buhari’s) go-ahead support.
The APC Presidential Aspirant, Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu, who is also the Aare-Ago of Egbaland, told the Alake that, he had been involved in building Nigeria’s democracy and enhancing its economy as well as placing Nigerian Nation in a better stead since the beginning of his professional and political career.
Asiwaju disclosed that, he had done a lot of crusade to fortify his ambition and to bring democracy back to Nigeria.
He listed his sojourn in positive Nigerian politics as a NADECO member, a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and as well as a Governor and now fully convinced that, he wanted to be the next Nation’s President.
He asserted that, he was fully ready and had put things in order to contest for the 2023 Presidency.
Tinubu therefore asked, the Egba Apex Monarch, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, to pray for him in order to solidify his successful access to the Presidency of Nigeria, adding that Buhari had endorsed him .
Speaking on behalf of the Ogun State Governor, the Chief of Staff, Alhaji Shuaib Salisu, welcomed the Aare-Ago of Egbaland.
Salisu described Tinubu as a bridge builder and someone who had done a lot for the Nation.
Honourable Shuaib Salisu said he was conveying the best wishes of the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun to the Presidential Aspirant.
Responding, the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo recalled that, he had known the Asiwaju for 38 years and had been an examplary entity for people.
Oba Gbadebo noted that, with the massive support, the Asiwaju had been receiving from the populace, he would have no problem in realising his ambition
Alake however assured him of his prayer support, noting that, he had been contributing and impacting in the fundamental growth and development of Nigeria.
Asiwaju Bola Tinubu was accompanied to the Alake by APC top notchers from Lagos and other parts of Nigeria.

Tinubu’s visit to the Alake was also witnessed by many Senior Ogun Government Officers, including the Chief of Staff, Alhaji Shuaib Salisu, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Afolabi Afuape, Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Investment, Mrs Kikelomo Longe, and Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mrs Modele Sarafa.
Some Egba Traditional Rulers and High Chiefs witnessed the occasion.
They included Onijale Papa: Oba Aderounmu Babalola, Olu Itori: Oba Fatai Akamo, Olu Owode: Oba Kola Sowemimo, and Olu Siun: Oba Lawrence Odekunle.
Among Egba Oloogun High Chiefs present were Balogun Sikirullah Atobatele, Osi Bode Mustapha, Seriki Tosin Fadare, Odofin Kola Akintoye, Asiwaju Maxwell Ayinla, Bobagunwa Toye Okanlawon, Bada Asoju Oba, Eruku Sam Lawon and Aare Baaroyin Layi Labode.
