We Admitted Some Lapses, Collation Centres Open By 6pm-INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Boss, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu  has admitted some reversion during the Saturday 23rd February National Elections.

Professor Yakubu made this known at a National Press briefing held at the International Conference Centre at 2:00pm.

“The commission acknowledges that there were delays in some areas and also some lapses and that in spite of INECS best efforts,elections could not take place in some places”

“After due consultation, INEC is monitoring ongoing elections in states like Abia, Bayelsa, Benue,Plateau,Zamfara, Kuje Area Council of the FCT and Bimji local government of Sokoto state.”

“We are also noted that INEC is closely monitoring the situation in Rivers state and also Owerri Minicipal area, as well as some states where violence occurred and the attack of Youth corps members in Osun state” .

The attacks was not good at all and we regretted the loss of an adhoc staff in Rivers state.

The INEC chairman revealed that the National Collation center will be declared open at 6pm
