ABEOKUTA – The former chairman, Senate Committee on commercialization and privatisation, Senator Olugbenga Obadara has promised to drop his ambition to represent the good people of Ogun Central Senatorial District at the Senate once again, should Governor Senator Ibikunle Amosun indicate interest in contesting.
Senator Obadara made the announcement yesterday at APC secretariat in Abeokuta, Ogun State, while declaring his senatorial ambition to party faithfuls.
He noted that his achievements at the seventh senate would spur him to success at the party primaries.
He said, “We are at a point in which the people no longer trust politicians who make promises on what they will do. It is about what you have done and can do better.”
He pointed out that during his time at the senate between 2011-2015, he facilitated one hundred and thirty-three projects in Ogun Central with a promise to do better if given the ticket by the party.
Senator Obadara said “I am grateful for the opportunity Ogun Central gave me to serve them and to the glory of God, we were able to attract one hundred and thirty three (133) projects across the senatorial district and we added six (6) even after leaving office.”
“Our Governor has tried a lot with several projects to show for it, so, I will drop my ambition and support him if he indicates a desire to run because he is a ranking senator too.”
Obadara therefore, assured the party leaders in the state not to disappoint them if they give him the party ticket.
“I appreciate everyone for being here and testifying to what we did when we had the opportunity. I want to plead for your support and assure you that, I will not misuse the opportunity to serve if given same once more”, the Egba-Odeda born politician concluded.
