In line with the Ogun State government’s promise to reach out to not lesser than 500,000 homes in the State, the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development had given out relief materials to widows, orphanages and different vulnerable groups to ameliorate the pains of lock down directive by the federal government.
The Commissioner in the Ministry, Mrs. Funmilayo Efuwape, while speaking with newsmen during the presentation said, the gesture was assurance that government was keen at ensuring wellbeing of the people, adding that, no less privileged would be left out in the distribution of the materials.
According to her, “we are going to reach out to all vulnerable groups in their various homes throughout this lockdown period. This is just the first batch of the supply, many more are still coming. There wouldn’t be need for anybody to run after the officials distributing the relief materials, we will get it to your doorsteps”.
Addressing beneficiaries, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Women Affairs, Hon Adijat Oladapo-Adeleye also promised the people of more dividend of democracy and all vulnerable groups would be reached out to, admonishing them to abide by the directives of the federal and state governments to curb the spread of coronavirus in the state.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr, Ranti Oladeinde in her remark, advised women to be more tolerance with their spouses during this lockdown, saying most husbands may not be used to staying at home this long, and may easily get frustrated, thereby resulting to domestic violence.
Beneficiaries thereafter expressed their appreciation to the state government for not leaving them out in the distribution of the relief materials, saying they were not seen as outcast and that the materials would go a long way in catering form their families during the lockdown.
