The new Chief Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta, has assured the Alake and all indigenes and residents of Ogun State that the Medical Institution would soon become a first class tertiary Medical Teaching Hospital if there is industrial peace, harmony, selfless service, professional commitment and fairness in that community.
Professor Adewale Musa made the assertion during his first official to the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland last weekend at the Ake Palace.
Prof. Musa, thanked Alake for peaceful resolution of misunderstanding that preceded his resumption. He noted with satisfaction the Alake’s immediate intervention in the misunderstanding and this resulted in the peaceful resolution of all issues.
He disclosed that since he assumed office, he, the Management and general staff have been working as one to overcome challenges facing the tertiary institution.
Some of these included Payments of arrears, Promotion, Up to date Medical Equipment, Building and some Financial issues.
He said that he and his team believed that all these issues were surmountable if there was harmony and love among them.
Prof. Adewale Musa also disclosed to the Egba Paramount Monarch that FMC had all it takes to be a Full fledged Medical Training Institution in terms of structures and personnel adding that he and his team would work towards the realization of the institution becoming a first class medical teaching hospital soonest possible.
The CMD also called on the Alake to sustain Royal assistance especially in making sure that all the current challenges are overcome.
Responding to Prof. Adewale Musa’s address, the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, His Majesty Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, said that the Egbaland deserves the best all the time as Abeokuta has been a very good host as the seat of Ogun State Government as well as entire residents of Abeokuta and Egbaland from all of the nation and outside.
The Alake thanked the CMD for sharing his dream about the FMC, recalling that Prof. Olukoye Ransome Kuti, as the Federal Minister of Health located a Federal Medical Centre in Abeokuta in lieu of an urgent need for a Federal Government Tertiary Health Institution.
He disclosed that he and well-meaning -Nigerians would continue to work towards making FMC a teaching hospital for the best health care of all resident in Ogun State.
The Alake charged the new CMD, the Management and General Staff of the medical facility to cooperate with one another in moving the Hospital forward. He admonished the new FMC Helmsman to be fair to all, take their problems as his while the staff themselves must reciprocate through loyalty and hardwork.
Oba Adedotun Gbadebo warned FMC workers not to be thinking of salaries and other benefits they would get from the government alone but also the welfare of those they were being paid to take care of.
He advised them to always remember that both medical and non-medical staff, even down to a cleaner have equal responsibility of making the system work for the patients.
Some Management Staff accompanied the new CMD on the courtesy visit to the Alake. They included Director of Administration, Mr Vaughn; the Director of Works, Engineer Owolabi; the Chief Nursing; the Director of Financee, and the Public Relations Officer, Mr Segun Orisajo.
