The Chancellor of Alex Ekweme Federal University, Ndufu Alike, Ikwo, His Majesty, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, CFR, Okukenu IV, has been extolling the giant strides of the Vice Chancellor of the Varsity, Professor Chinedu Nwajuiba.
Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, who was speaking at the 5th Special Convocation of. AE-FUNAI, said he was totally satisfied with commitment, assiduity, focused and exemplary leadership of the Vice Chancellor since he took the mantle of leadership of the Varsity in 2016.
Oba Gbadebo noted that the VC had taken the AE-FUNAI to higher academic, moral including massive and expansive infrastructural levels, adding that his legacies would be enduring.
The Chancellor said Professor Nwajuiba would be leaving the AE-FUNAI with his head held high because he had paid his dues as a greatest academic and administrator.
Oba Adedotun Gbadebo also appealed to the AE-FUNAI Community to keep the flag flying by extending the same hands of cooperation and collaboration with whosoever becomes the succeeding Vice Chancellor.
On the special 5th Convocation, the Alake said that the awards given were meant to acknowledge and reward the Awardees for their contributions to the society.
The Alake also appealed to the Visitor to FUNAI, President Muhmadu Buhari, to complete all abandoned projects, some of which had been in existence since 2011, when the Varsity was founded.
Oba Adedotun Gbadebo also commended the Council, Senate and the entire Senior and general staff for working as one united and committed family to ensure that the Varsity ranked among the best in the country.
The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Professor Briggs appreciated the outgoing Vice Chancellor for his assiduity.
The Chairman of Council also appealed to the Ministry of Education to complete the abandoned projects at the Varsity.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Nwajuiba, who is outgoing by January 2021, said the Special Convocation was to make a stock taking and say a goodbye.
The VC also said he had done his best and achieved a lot through collective and all inclusive leadership.
He disclosed that AE-FUNAI was the only university to have Solar power and thereby been the only university with 24 hours of power supply.
He said a new auditorium was named after Pro-Chancellor Abubakar Rasheed.
Professor Nwajuiba appealed to the Federal Government to carefully choose the Chief Executive of the Varsity.
He said he had paid his dues and said that sustainability would continue to make the university greater.
Professor Nwajuiba admonished the lecturers to maintain the three points of a university.
These are teaching, research and community service, adding that there were lecturers because there were students to teach and they were willing to learn.
He called on the Federal Government to work out a plan whereby there would be no strikes even for the first ten years of its existence.
