Young entrepreneurs in Ogun State have been charged to strive towards excellence, be consistent and diligent, in order to attain greater heights in their endeavors.
Secretary to Ogun State Government, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi gave this charge at a leadership empowerment conference organised by the Sagamites Club in Sagamu, admonishing them to be focused and avoid all forms of distraction.
Talabi noted that consistency in business makes an entrepreneur more skilful and creative, saying, ‘’once you are noted for quality, you will get higher patronage, while your products or services becomes household name’’.
On his part, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Airtel Nig. Mr. Segun Ogunsanya, enjoined the youths to believe in ‘not too young to lead’, as he became a managing director at age 33, advising them to always quest for knowledge, not minding whoever they are learning from.
Also speaking, the Vice Chancellor, Lagos State University, Mr. Toyin Ogundipe urged them to be flexible, discover their individual areas of specialities and be determined to succeed in whatever field they found themselves.
Earlier in his address, former Governor of Ogun State and Chairman of the occasion, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, challenged them to persevere, be determined and work hard to attain greater heights.
In his opening remarks, the President, Sagamites Club and former Managing Director Guinness Nig. plc, Mr. Seni Adetu said the purpose of the conference was a way of giving back to the society by instilling business acumen in youths and giving financial support for the take off of credible business proposals, thereby enriching the community.
He maintained that government could not do it alone and this had informed their decision to support young entrepreneurs, calling on other social clubs to join hands and make life meaningful for the youths.
Meanwhile, Governor Dapo Abiodun has promised to construct mini-income and low-income housing Estates in Sagamu, as part of efforts to address housing deficit in the country and make affordable housing accessible to residents of Ogun State.
Prince Abiodun noted that the economic transformation being witnessed in Sagamu and other parts of the State, necessitated the need for provision of more affordable houses for the people.
