Sports should be engaged as a way of channelling youthful exuberance for the overall development of the youth and the State.
The Chairman, House Committee on Youth, Sport and Employment Generation, Hon. Shola Adams stated this while paying a visit to Ogun State athletes participating in the ongoing National Youth Festival at the University of Ilorin, Kwara State, urging youths to show more interest and explore sports as alternative to unemployment.
Hon. Adams pledged to contribute to the development of sport in the State in his capacity as the Chairman House Committee on Sports, expressing satisfaction with the performance of the State’s contingent so far.
Meanwhile, Team Ogun had increased its Gold medal to eight as Temitope Toriola started Day Four on a golden note in the Female Shooting Category, before following it up with another Gold medal when she paired with Adeoye Tiwalade, to win the Female Doubles event in Shooting.
Team Ogun’s Para-Table Tennis player, Obadele Fuad also won a Gold medal, while the Men Beach Volleyball team also got a Gold medal at the expense of Akwa Ibom State.
With these developments, Team Ogun now has eight Gold, five Silver and eight Bronze medals as at Day Five of the Festival.
